Kristopher E. Fernandez

  • Kris graduated from The University of Florida College of Law in 1986, was admitted to practice law in Florida in October 1986 and was a member of the Judge Advocate General’s Corp, in the U.S. Navy from 1986 to 1990;
  • Kris also owns Kristopher E. Fernandez, P.A., and he practices law in the following areas:
    • Residential and commercial real estate transactions and closings, including representation of sellers, buyers, and lenders, and issuance of title insurance;
    • Representation of title insurance company in title insurance litigation;
    • Mortgage foreclosures, partition and quiet title lawsuits and other matters involving title to real estate;
    • Commercial and residential landlord-tenant cases, including evictions and lease preparation; condominium and homeowner association matters;
    • Preparation of wills, trusts, and similar estate planning documents;
    • Representation of clients in probate cases;
    • Kris has handled more than 2,000 real estate closings, both residential and commercial, since 1995; and
    • Kris has been a licensed attorney title insurance agent for Attorneys’ Title Insurance Fund Services LLC since 1992 and for Old Republic National Title Insurance Company since 2008.
  • Kris’ professional qualifications include:
    • Executive Council member, Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section of the Florida Bar (“RPPTL”), from July 2008 to present;
    • Chairman of the Title Insurance committee of the Florida Bar-Real Property Section, from July 1, 2011, through June 30, 2014;
    • Vice-chairman of the Title Insurance Committee of the Florida Bar-Real Property section from July 2008, through June 2011;
    • Trustee, Attorneys’ Title Insurance Fund, Inc./director, Attorneys’ Title Insurance Fund Services, LLC, from July 2014, to present; and
    • Member of various committees within RPPTL, including Title Issues and Standards.
  • Kris lectures on real estate topics that are relevant to the industry and his clients, including:
    • Mortgage foreclosure seminars sponsored by the Hillsborough County Bar Association in June 2005, April 2006, June 2007 and May 2008;
    • Mortgage fraud seminar sponsored by the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate
      Professionals in July 2007;
    • Title Commitments at real estate closings seminar sponsored by the Florida BAR-RPPTL section in September 2007;
    • Realtor/Attorney seminar on October 8, 2011, and August 22, 2012, on Landlord-Tenant issues; and
    • The Fund Assembly on Judgment Liens on May 8, 2015.
